Salsa Choke

Shakira’s reign as Colombia’s most famous dancer may be over — thanks to the national football team.

Their choreographed goal celebrations have brought the urban dance craze hugely popular in South America to the rest of the world.

The Salsa Choke or Chichoke, arrived in Colombia three or four years ago and rapidly turned into a craze amongst the locals.

It is an elaborate form of line-dancing with a more relaxed, hip-hop feel  with a sensual Shakira-style hip action. It is less structured and more fluid than salsa, from which it derives. It involves quick steps, leg flicks and Salsa-like arm movements.
